Your role with us

The position includes consultative assistance to operations, committees, and companies with legal issues primarily within public law and civil law.

The responsibilities within the legal operations are currently divided, and the person we are looking for will be responsible for legal support to municipal management and politics, as well as the main responsibility for support to the school operations.

Within your area of responsibility, there is a special task to investigate and, if necessary in collaboration with the secretariat, develop governing documents such as overarching guidelines, delegation orders, and regulations. Depending on the situation in the external environment, you also need to be able to provide support in emergency law, information security, and crisis planning. The position includes working closely with the other two lawyers in the municipality, and the collaboration means that you sometimes need to familiarize yourself with and handle new areas within the municipality's operations.

If applicable, you will represent the municipality in negotiations and courts. The position also includes planning and conducting training.

Part of the job is to inform and educate staff and elected officials on various legal issues. Our goal is a preventive approach, and we want to get involved early in various processes. We represent the municipality in both administrative courts and general courts. The municipal lawyers have a close collaboration with each other, especially in cross-municipal issues such as publicity and confidentiality, municipal law, and administrative law. Otherwise, the specific issues of the various administrations are divided among the municipal lawyers with main areas of responsibility.

Who are we looking for?

You who are applying have a law degree (at least at the bachelor's level 120 credits/180 ECTS) or another higher education that the employer assesses as equivalent. If you have a bar exam, it is an advantage, as well as if you have completed a notarial service or been a clerk in court.

You need to have knowledge and work experience in school law issues. We also want you to have experience in litigation and qualified legal work or other experience that the employer finds equivalent. Experience from a politically governed organization is required, preferably municipal administration. Knowledge in the area of security and preparedness is an advantage.

Since communication and documentation are part of the job, you are good at writing clearly, concisely, and well-structured. You are used to giving presentations, lectures, and training and can adapt your communication to the target audience. This means sometimes finding creative solutions to convey important and sometimes complicated information.

Good legal knowledge and analytical ability are prerequisites for the position, as well as being a person with good judgment and integrity. For us, it is important that you are meticulous and efficient, as well as having a good ability to learn new areas of law and an interest in current law.

We want you to be good at creating and maintaining good relationships, both internally and externally. You collaborate well with people in various contexts and functions that you meet in your role. The ability to prioritize your tasks and be efficient is an advantage. To thrive in our workgroup, it is a plus if you are a social person and have a good sense of humor, as we support each other in big and small matters.

You will be one of three municipal lawyers and belong to the secretariat unit with 12 employees who work in areas such as administration, archives, elections, and law. The unit belongs to the municipal management office, and the workplace is Rådhus Skåne in Kristianstad. Together, we work preventively to meet the needs of the administrations.

The municipal management office is responsible for strategically leading, coordinating, and developing the municipality's operations. Here, functions such as finance, HR, IT, communication, citizen center, business, tourism, and shared services are included. With our approximately 700 dedicated employees, we operate under the leadership of the municipal council to create a positive development for everyone in our municipality.
